Leaders in business community let everyone have it. Raise that debt ceiling, and do your job. They understand the impact a default will have and want to prevent it.

Hello, Obama? Democrats? Please take this as a sign from the Almighty. Call their bluff. All in.

No concessions.

I am a believer in compromise, but the GOP refuses. They’ve really been living up to their reputation of being the “Party of No.” Slash spending, and no tax hikes. Hell, they don’t even want to close loopholes. To get the votes to raise the debt ceiling, we’ll have to do everything they want. If they’re coming into a “negotiation” with that attitude, it is a complete waste of time. They refuse to listen to us.

But they will listen to them.

The venerated job creators are saying that the debt ceiling needs to be raised.

The letter, signed by hundreds of senior company executives and groups including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Business Roundtable, said that “it is critical that the U.S. government not default in any way” and urges lawmakers “to put aside partisan differences and act in the nation’s best interest.”

The very people who helped elect those Tea Party Freshmen are warning them. This puts the GOP in a very awkward position. If they want their continued support, they are going to have to do what they say. There are already signs that they’re cracking. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell wants to give Obama new powers to raise the ceiling if no deal is reached. And we don’t have to concede anything. Basically, he wants the GOP to get rid of this mess.

For the love of God, Big Business just let you know, in writing, what we knew all along. You have the upper hand as they hold this debt ceiling hostage. Obama and Democrats, will you start acting like it?
