Racism on Display

It isn’t fake. It’s real. And it’s really racist.

Don’t tell that to the chick who sells it. Because Paula Smith isn’t racist.

“We just found it on the internet, and thought it was cute. It’s been up there since he’s been president.”

Yeah, a shortened version of the “n” word is so cute. Right up there with puppies and flowers.

This was the kicker for me. When she was asked if she thought the “n” word was bad one, she said,

“No. Because I don’t use it. I have kids here around me that are black kids. I call them my own kids. I’ve helped black families…to guide them in the right direction.”

OK forget the whole “some of my best friends are black” reasoning. I expected that. But the “n” word isn’t bad because you don’t say it? What if other people use it in an obviously offensive manner? It still isn’t bad because you didn’t say it? That makes zero sense.

Interestingly, even though the bumper sticker is “cute” and “not racist,” you can’t buy it on her site anymore. I wonder why not? If you like it, stand by it and sell it. We have freedom of speech. Take advantage of it! Like any good capitalist, make a killing off it.

Or maybe, deep down, you know it’s offensive, and you don’t want to be associated with it…
